Meet Report – Ebury Hill, Camping & Caravanning Club Site Friday 1st April –> Sunday 3rd April 2022, stewarded by Sue & Anthony Perry

FRIDAY at 13:00pm, the rally meet was officially opened. Units continued to arrive throughout the day. Twenty-four units in total had arrived.

SATURDAY the weather was somewhat a mixed bunch, with light showers coupled with blazing sunshine. There was brisk cold wind but when the sun shone through the fluffy clouds, campers were treated to warmth. Campers completed their usual chores of fresh water collection, disposal of waste water & Elsan prior to embarking on the new day.

Throughout the day, the native wild rabbits continued to forage in the undergrowth whilst the blue tits could been seen feeding their young in the numerous bird houses. Many campers ventured out to Abbey ruins at Haughmond, some ventured to Telford AFC to watch the game ( nice result ) whilst several walked the Shropshire Way to the “Dog In The Lane” Public House to find unfortunately it was closed due to ill health.

Campers were constantly reminded on Radio & TV media channels about the invasion of Ukraine by the Russians but this would not hamper things. Evening set in and the drinks were flowing well. Before you knew it, sun had set and majority of campers retired to their awnings or caravans for the evening. By 23:00pm, the site was now asleep.

SUNDAY morning, campers were up early, getting their various jobs done, prior to Coffee morning at 10am which was being hosted by the Stewards Sue and Anthony Perry. Sue had generously provided biscuits which the campers truly devoured. Answers to the two quizs were also read-out and the children Max, Minnie, Amber & Lauren gratefully received their prizes for an outstanding result.

Chairman “Mr. Andrew Booth” addressed the campers and thanked the stewards “Sue & Anthony” for stewarding, “Natasha” for the Treasurer tasks and “Tracy” for the bookings management. Chairman also thanks campers for their attendance.

The campers continued to have a good old natter, sharing their experiences of other camped meets and future planned camping meets but soon it was time to return to the units and begin the task of cleaning & packing away, in readiness for the next adventure.

By 12:30pm, majority of units had successfully departed, leaving only a few to continue their stay at the Club site whilst the Rally was now closed. We all said our goodbyes and look forward to meeting each and everyone again in the near future in a field.
