Meet Report – Arbor Day Bank Holiday weekend at Kevindale, Aston-on-Clun.

We welcomed units old and new to our Arbor Day Bank Holiday weekend at Kevindale, Aston-on-Clun, including visitors from North Staffs and New Forest DA’s.

The grass in the field had been recently cut, and, with the fabulous weather on the Friday, looked very 20170528_105233appealing.

Saturday the weather wasn’t quite as good, with cloud and some drizzle, some people stayed on site whilst others explored the local area, being handily situated for Craven Arms, Church Stretton, Ludlow and Stokesay Castle. Unfortunately in the evening the rain returned, causing the planned social gathering and quiz to be cancelled.

On Sunday we woke to sunny skies, and were able to enjoy Coffee Morning in the sunshine. After coffee, most of us walked or drove the mile or so to the village, for the Annual Arbor Tree Day, the only village in the country still celebrating this old tradition. After the tree dressing, music and entertainment, we headed the three village hall and green (some of us had a quick refreshment break in the pub on the way!) for more entertainment, before returning to the site for a relax.

Monday morning was a hive of activity as people packed up under grey skies, to return home or travel on to other destinations.

A very relaxing weekend was had by all, and many thanks to Peter and Yvonne for their hard work stewarding.
