Shropshire DA were fortunate that in a week where a number of DA’s and Sections across the country had to cancel their planned rallies due to the wet weather, our Cheese and Cider meet at Orchard Cottage, Market Drayton, went ahead without issue, on a lovely well drained field, where 10 units from Shropshire, North Staffs, Staffs, Birmingham and Central Lancashire joined us for our Cider and Cheese weekend.
The meet opened on Thursday, when 4 units arrived, the remainder arriving throughout Friday and one on Saturday. Campers were able to enjoy the numerous walks in the local area, either up to the canal locks, into Market Drayton or a little further a field.
On Saturday afternoon, Stewards Brian and Eirwen, helped by June and Linda, provided a fantastic spread including the cheese, with cider or wine. Everyone joined in and enjoyed the company, making new friendships, and even the weather behaved, with no rain at all!
Sunday’s coffee morning was held between the showers, and with the meet continuing until Monday there was the opportunity for more walks or just relaxing until winding your way home.
This lovely peaceful site has been booked again for a repeat performance next year.
Thanks to Brian and Eirwen for stewarding.
