Meet Report – Halloween Meet – Bramblewood

13 units, including a very impressive 11 children, attended the Halloween meet at a new site for the DA, Bramblewood, near Whitchurch.

The site offers EHU, toilets and showers and a barn which is a games room containing pool table, table tennis, table football and dart board, and was utilised by the DA for our evening entertainment.

Feedback on the site was very positive and so this has been booked again for next year; with full facilities, a pub within walking distance and a beautiful location this is one not to be missed in 2019.

With the meet opening on the Friday, there was a social gathering in the barn in the evening; More units arrived during Saturday and those on site went off to explore the town of Whitchurch or walk around the beautiful Brown Moss Nature Reserve next to the site, and in the afternoon there were Halloween craft activities in the barn for the children, followed by the always popular ‘Trick or Treat’ around the units and the judging of the Pumpkin carving competition by Roy – Congratulations to Linda for winning! Then we all moved into the barn for Laura’s fabulous soup (Pumpkin and/or Broccoli and Stilton) and hot dogs – thank you Richard – followed by some gorgeous cakes. Social Secretaries Jon and Natasha then entertained us with a very tricky Halloween themed quiz, bingo and Karaoke/disco. There were also some very competitive games of table tennis and pool!

Sunday dawned cold but sunny and it was decided to hold Coffee Morning outdoors. During coffee, plans were hatched for a Sunday afternoon walk to the local pub, and most of us enjoyed a walk of just over a mile through the woods and cornfields to the White Lion pub in the village of Ash, followed by a few warming beverages before returning back to site. In the evening there was more Karaoke, music and games.

Monday people did their own thing during the day, with more craft activities being held for the children in the afternoon and music and socialising in the barn in the evening. Tuesday followed a similar pattern, with Wednesday morning being pack up and move on time.

Many thanks to all who attended, to Vince and Linda for stewarding, Laura and Richard for the catering, Tracy and Linda for the craft activities and Jon and Natasha for the entertainment.
