Meet Report – Ebury Hill 3rd-6th October

A Camping & Caravanning Club site located between Telford & Shrewsbury, amongst the Shropshire countryside was the location for this weekends DA meet.

Thursday lunch time, Ann & George officially opened the meet; the caravans continued to roll up.

In total, 17 units were in attendance, coming from  ;

Worcestershire & Herefordshire DA 5 units

Birmingham  DA 1 unit

Staffordshire DA 1 unit

Chase DA 1 unit

Shropshire DA 9 units

Yet again what a great turnout.

FRIDAY, A free & easy day, relaxing under the canopy of trees, whilst further campers continued to arrive. The children played on the park until dusk, the adults chattered and the weather stayed dry.

SATURDAY, people woke up & enjoyed watching the 2018 RWC match Eng-vs-Arg. Some went shopping whilst the committee held their 380th Shropshire DA meeting. Many items were discussed & agreed but more importantly, Ken Michael agreed to remain our Treasurer & Rebecca Challenor joined the committee. We now have nine members on our committee which we hope we can inject new ideas to up and coming events.

During the afternoon many did their routine jobs around their units, whilst others prepared for the main event of the weekend – The Afternoon Tea!

Laura Sutton supported by Jean Michael and Ann Adams prepared and served a grand selection of cakes which I think it is fair to say, everyone devoured.

Whilst the Tea & cake was being served Laura was presented with a cut glass Vase and a lovely bunch of flowers as a symbol of the Shropshire DA’s thanks for all the efforts made over the umpteen years. Laura officially stood down from the committee but always shows willing to lend a keen hand to catering & decorating events.

The remainder of the cakes were kindly donated to a local church parish and distributed amongst the local community.

Late afternoon saw the children enjoy a nature treasure hunt each finding 11 items such as 5cm twig, a feather, acorn cups and a thistle to name a few.

Young Albert celebrated his 3rd Birthday with all the other children & parents.

Shropshire DA outdoor games were setup. In hind sight, the adults had more fun as the children were distracted by den making, the play park and the forest.

SUNDAY

The sun shone, the trees waved in the mild breeze whilst campers joined and recapped their previous night’s events.

Some cooked breakfast whilst some enjoyed a lie in in their cosy units.

At 11am, campers met for coffee morning prior to leaving the meet at 1pm.
