Meet Report – Royal Oak ‘The Tiddly’ – 27th-30th June 2019.

Another fantastic meet for Shropshire DA at this new to us site at Ellerdine in the heart of rural Shropshire. 20 units in total attended, 3 from far away DAs, 2 from Northern Ireland DA and 1 from Glasgow and West of Scotland DA, whilst others came from Nottingham, Birmingham, West Midlands, Worcester & Hereford, North Staffs and Chase DAs.

The weather was fantastic, and the field was in excellent condition, giving everyone the opportunity to relax on the field or in the pub beer garden, or take a walk or cycle along the picturesque country lanes throughout the weekend. On Friday evening a number of campers had a fabulous meal in the pub, washed down with some pints of Real Ale, cider or something else equally chilled….

Saturday was very warm, and some stayed on site whilst others visited Shrewsbury for the Food Festival, returning to a social gathering in the evening.

Sunday morning saw a special treat for the campers, a breakfast prepared for them by the DA Committee, some other willing volunteers and the children on site. This was very well received by everyone, we did not charge for the breakfast but asked for donations to the North Central Region Charity of the Year, Prostate Cancer, instead, with over £100 being raised for this very worthy cause.

Following the completion of the breakfast and coffee morning it was time to leisurely pack up for home.

The site has been booked again for next year, albeit slightly earlier in June (18th – 21st), and is sure to be enjoyed again.

Thanks to Vince and Linda for stewarding, and everyone who helped during the weekend, particularly for the Breakfasts.
