It has been a long time since Shropshire DA held a Valentines meet, so we were unsure of what to expect, we needn’t have worried though as a fantastic 21 units from Shropshire, Derbyshire, Staffs, North Staffs, Lancashire & Cheshire, Worcester & Hereford and West Midlands, arrived in unseasonably warm weather for our first meet of 2019.

Friday afternoon saw units arrive and site up, some on the hard standing and the others on the adjacent field, the recent dry weather making this more than usable. In the evening we made our way into the hall with its Garrison Bar, where we mingled with the locals from the village. Entertainment was provided courtesy of our Chairman Andrews’s Valentine themed quiz (won by Jon & Natasha), and then some Karaoke.

Saturday was another lovely day, and some campers took the opportunity to walk around the village or ventured off to explore nearby Shrewsbury, whilst others congregated outside until the sun went down. In the evening we came to the main event, the Tern Valley Tinkers Ceilidh band, who had us dancing all night long, with just a break for some wonderful food, thanks to everyone for donating food and Laura and her helpers for adding the finishing touches. We also had the distribution of red roses and there was much wooing.

We have received such wonderful comments about the weekend and we saw for ourselves the huge smiles on peoples faces as they danced around the room. One lady commented on Sunday morning that her face was still aching from all the smiling and laughing from the night before. We are so pleased that everyone had such a great time.

Sunday was the familiar process of coffee morning and people packing up at their leisure to make their way home reminiscing of how fabulous their weekend had been.
